On the 28th of November Clare Press, Australian Vogue’s sustainability Editor-At-Large hosted the European launch for her book Rise & Resist, How to Change the World. The launch contained a personal Q&A on stage moderated by international model, co-founder of Model Mafia and activist Nimue Smit. An exclusive selection of press, influencers, movers and shakers of the good fashion industry joined the book launch at Fashion for Good.
During the book launch Nimue Smit, model and change-maker in the international fashion industry, interviewed Clare Press on stage about her new book, modern activism and how to make a positive change. Nimue together with Cameron Russell is part of the Model Mafia community, a great example of a unified group promoting activism and fairness in the fashion industry. Clare therefore covers Cameron and Model Mafia in Rise & Resist.
The book, Rise & Resist is now available to purchase exclusively at Fashion for Good from the Good Shop – the exclusive selling point of the book in The Netherlands until the end of February, for €20.95.
Inspired by the women’s marches, Press set out to explore the new activism that connects the key issues of our times, from sustainability to social and climate justice. Rise & Resist is Clare’s third published book and looks at creative approaches to change-making in the ever-increasing world of activism, challenging the reader to question how they can make an impact and get involved. The book takes you on Clare’s journey about how she crossed the globe talking to humanitarians, zero-waste mavericks, feminists, social and environmental leaders and more.
“Activism is taking increasingly creative forms,” Clare says. “Movements are building and linking together. The old silo mentality is falling away to be replaced by connectivity.”
The book launch follows Episode 58 of Clare’s Wardrobe Crisis podcast, where along with Katrin Ley, Managing Director at Fashion for Good, Clare discusses whether conferences do any good, what good fashion looks like and the work of Fashion for Good.
