5 Innovators Join Fashion for Good’s Scaling Programme

AMSTERDAM - Today, Fashion for Good is adding five companies to its Scaling Programme. These companies offer innovative and game changing solutions. From using mycelium material and fiber welding, to rethinking waste water treatment and recommerce, they champion the future of good fashion. Working on concrete implementation projects, they are demonstrating that good fashion is not only possible but within reach

The latest innovators to join are: Ecovative, Natural Fiber Welding, The Renewal Workshop, SeaChange Technologies, Inc. and Yerdle Recommerce. They will now have the unique opportunity to connect with likeminded brands, investors and manufacturers capable of helping them fast-track the implementation and adoption of their daring innovations. The Scaling Programme provides support for a period of 18 months, with clear and jointly defined milestones on each company’s roadmap to scale.

Current innovators in the Scaling Programme: Ambercycle, BEXT360, ColorZen, Softwear, Spinnova, Tamicare, The Infinited Fiber Company, Tyton Biosciences and Worn Again.


Ecovative focuses on advancing sustainable fabrication using their Mycelium Biofabrication PlatformTM. Their technology allows more control over geometry, density, size and composition of mycelium material – resulting in MycoflexTM; a high-performance foam with exciting applications in fashion, for example in footwear, accessories, outerwear and lingerie. MycoflexTM is sourced from agricultural waste streams, does not involve the use of any harmful chemistry, and is biodegradable.

Natural Fiber Welding

Natural Fiber Welding’s patented welding processes reformat cotton and other natural fibers in such a way that short fibers can function as extra-long staple virgin fibers. This gives these materials unprecedented performance and utility and allows manufacturers to transform materials which are today considered as waste into high performance circular yarns.

The Renewal Workshop

Brands are holding on to thousands to millions of articles of clothing that fall under the category of returned, damaged, defective, out-of-season, broken-size run, or post-consumer. The Renewal Workshop (TRW) provides brand-specific “take-back” programs so that consumers can give back their clothing to the brand when it is no longer wanted. TRW partners with the world’s top brands to source apparel that is returned, damaged, defective, and post-consumer. Then TRW then cleans, sorts, and repairs the apparel to extend the lifetime of the product.

SeaChange Technologies, Inc.

SeaChange Technologies, Inc. has developed a game-changing approach to cost-effectivly eliminate wastewater from the apparel supply chain. They made one of the world’s first mechanical, non-membrane, zero-liquid-discharge desalination systems.

Founder and CEO of SeaChange, Dipak Mahato: “The SeaChange process allows manufacturers to maintain their existing production capabilities, while saving money and reducing their environmental footprint. We are excited to join Fashion for Good to work towards Good Water for all.”

Yerdle Recommerce

Yerdle Recommerce developd white-label resale channels, allowing brands to buy back and resell used items. It enables brands to take back control of the secondary marketplace, improving customer engagement and increasing profit through a circular economy approach. Yerdle takes care of the backend work in logistics, reverse logistics, and web development to put the brand out in front.

Founder and CEO of Yerdle Recommerce Andy Ruben: “It takes 2,700 liters of water to make one cotton shirt, the amount of water the average person drinks in 2.5 years (WRI). The average customer bought 60% more clothing in 2014 compared to 2000. We need a better, more circular model to get more use out of the items we have already made. Yerdle makes it easy for leading brands and retailers to buy back and resell their items in a far more circular model.”
