AMSTERDAM – Today the Fashion for Good Experience opens a temporary exhibit featuring the collections of the Redress Design Award 2018 – the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. The unique pieces of the finalists are created with zerowaste, upcycling and reconstruction techniques, and are designed by passionate, talented game-changers with the aim to transform the global fashion industry.

The exhibit will officially be opened by Director of Partnerships & Communications Redress, Hannah Lane and Managing Director of Fashion for Good, Katrin Ley. On stage Lane will interview one of the finalists Hung Wei-Yu, on his sustainability approach and upcycling techniques and his experiment with handmade lace made from wood scraps from the furniture industry.

The Redress Design Award promotes sustainable design theories and techniques in order to drive growth towards a circular fashion system, in the 2018 cycle receiving applications from 55 different countries. First place was awarded to Tess Whitfort and runner up to Jesse Lee, who both feature as part of the exhibition.

All garments are displayed on mannequins of Mannequino, the world’s first modular mannequin display system designed for a circular economy. The exhibit will run from the 17th January until the 14th February 2019 at the Fashion for Good Experience at Rokin 102 in Amsterdam and is free of entry.
