Fashion for Good Museum tilt organisatie naar hoger plan

De Fashion for Good Experience, 's werelds eerste interactieve museum gericht op duurzame mode, roept deze week een Raad van Advies bijeen en verwelkomt twee nieuwe bestuursleden. Daarnaast is het museum vanaf deze maand officieel geregistreerd bij het Museumregister en voldoet daarmee aan dezelfde landelijke normen als andere grote musea in Nederland. Dit zijn belangrijke stappen om de toekomst van het museum te versterken en de programmering te verdiepen.

AMSTERDAM – The Fashion for Good Experience, the world’s first interactive museum focused on sustainable fashion, is convening an Advisory Council this week and welcoming two new board members. In addition, the museum is officially registered with the Museum Registry from this month and thus meets the same national standards as other large museums in the Netherlands. These are important steps to strengthen the future of the museum and to deepen the programming.

The Fashion for Good Experience – with an ANBI status (Public Benefit Organisation) – is, as of October 2020, officially registered with the Stichting Museumregister Nederland, which carries out the registration of museums in the Netherlands that demonstrably meet the criteria for high-quality fulfilment of the functions of a museum.

Since opening, the museum has welcomed more than 70,000 visitors and has built an incredibly engaged “good fashion” community of more than 115,000 online followers.


The Experience operates in a unique space, with the aim of inspiring visitors to change their fashion behaviour. The museum approaches this goal through the development of educational programmes, inspiring events, with for example, ELLE Netherlands, Hanna Verboom and Cinetree, collaborations with schools and, as will be announced in 2021, with internationally renowned fashion designers. The ultimate ambition is to reach every player in the clothing industry. The museum’s board, with new members Albert Brenninkmeijer as chairman and board member José Teunissen, together with existing members vice-chairman Leslie Johnston, secretary Siebe Weide and treasurer Stefan Hafner, is responsible for the strategy behind this. This week, the Advisory Council of the Fashion for Good Experience meets for the first time, to discuss the programming of the museum, including all events, exhibitions and collaborations, in order to determine how to reach a broader and larger audience and to give advice on subsidies and sponsoring. The committee, consisting of five members, will fill their positions for two years and are selected on their personal expertise, guaranteeing a multidisciplinary team. The committee is chaired by Marian Duff, accompanied by Mick Groeneveld, Elles van Vegchel, Marjolein van Breemen and Stephan Alspeer.

The Fashion for Good Museum is financially supported by the Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst to set up collaborations with local creative talents, which will start in early 2021. In addition, the museum has also received funding from Horizon 2020, the largest research and innovation programme in the EU, for the Allthings.bioRPO project, for which the museum will offer educational activities around biomaterials in 2021.
