AMSTERDAM- Visitors of The Fashion for Good museum are invited to get inspired and feel the spirit of sustainable innovation at Fashion for Good’s Holiday Festivities, hosted at our first hub in the centre of Amsterdam.

Events Include Good Fashion Pop-Up Shop, DIY Makers Workshops and #GoodFashionResolution Campaign

This December, visitors are invited to get inspired and feel the spirit of sustainable innovation at Fashion for Good’s Holiday Festivities, hosted at our first hub in the centre of Amsterdam. The month-long public exhibit, which runs from 1-24 December, will feature a Good Fashion Pop-Up Shop, a series of Do-It-Yourself Makers Workshops and an opportunity to join our #GoodFashionResolution campaign, among other events and activities.

Launched in March 2017, Fashion for Good is the global initiative that is here to make all fashion good. It is a global platform for innovation, made possible through collaboration and community. Through our unique Fashion for Good Experience, a vibrantly curated exhibition space located on the first two floors of our Amsterdam hub, we invite visitors to learn about social and environmental issues in the fashion industry and join our movement to make fashion a force for good.

POP-UP SHOP WITH LIMITED-EDITION ‘FIVE GOODS’ T-SHIRTS DESIGNED BY AMSTERDAM FASHION INSTITUTE (AMFI) STUDENTS

The ‘good’ in Fashion for Good refers to The Five Goods — a robust definition of ‘good’ inspired by William McDonough’s Cradle to Cradle™ approach to a circular apparel industry. These are defined as Good Materials, Good Economy, Good Energy, Good Water and Good Lives.

Fashion for Good partnered with AMFI for a Five Goods Design Competition to bring these concepts to life as T-shirt print designs. The designs were judged by a panel including local fashion industry influencers Martijn Nekoui (founder of MOAM and journalist at Het Parool) and Rosi Schipper (fashion recruiter with Movers & Shakers).

The designs were screen-printed locally onto the world’s first Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Certified™ GOLD T-shirt from C&A, using Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified inks. They will be available for €12.90 in our Good Fashion Pop-Up Shop.

DO-IT-YOURSELF MAKERS WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON

INVITATION TO MAKE A #GOODFASHIONRESOLUTION FOR 2018

There is no better time than the new year to kick-start a good fashion habit. This December we want to invite our global community to help us collectively brainstorm ways we can all be more mindful about the clothes we buy, wear and throw away in 2018 – by making a #GoodFashionResolution and sharing it on Instagram along with the campaign hashtag.

To say thank you for joining the conversation and sharing your ideas, you’ll go in the draw to win 1 of 3 good fashion prize packs in the new year – which includes a €100 online credit for Dutch sustainable fashion pioneers Charlie + Mary, and a one-on-one session with a sustainable fashion stylist.

ABOUT FASHION FOR GOOD

Fashion for Good is the global initiative that is here to make all fashion good. Fashion for Good sparks and scales innovation by offering practical action in the form of support and funding, shares best practice and lessons learned in open-source roadmaps and fosters sector-wide collaboration for the entire apparel industry to change. Fashion for Good invites brands, producers, retailers, suppliers, non-profit organisations, innovators and funders to jointly transform the industry.

Fashion for Good was launched in 2017 with C&A Foundation as a founding partner, and is supported by partners Plug and Play, McDonough Innovation, the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, IDH – the Sustainable Trade Initiative, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Impact Hub Amsterdam. The first brands to partner with Fashion for Good are C&A, Galeries Lafayette Group and Kering.

At the core of Fashion for Good is an Innovation Platform, which includes:

  • Fashion for Good-Plug and Play Accelerator: Fashion for Good works with Plug and Play, a leading Silicon Valley accelerator, to give promising start-up innovators the funding and expertise they need in order to grow.
  • Scaling Programme: Fashion for Good finds innovations that have proof-of-concept and helps them scale by offering bespoke support and access to expertise, customers and capital.
  • Good Fashion Fund: This fund will catalyze access to finance where this is required to shift at scale to more sustainable production methods.

Fashion for Good is founded on the principle of collaboration and aims to create tools that are open-source, such as its Good Fashion Guide, which provides practical tips for brands wishing to embrace circular apparel principles. It operates from its first hub in Amsterdam, which also houses a Circular Apparel Community co-working space and a visitor-facing Launchpad Exhibition.
